Adviser to Chief Minister on Education, Ziaullah Bangash on Wednesday said that a target of recruitment of 65000 teachers was set under five years plan. Under the plan, he said 17000 teachers across the province have been inducted in first year and process of the recruitment of 2300 teachers was in progress.

He was addressing a press briefing to highlight the one-year performance of the Elementary and Secondary Education Department here on Wednesday.

He said that a very encouraging output has been witnessed after efforts made for enhancing enrolment in schools especially in fifth in higher grades as 10205 girls students enrolled in fifth grade while the number of male students in same category was 9757.

The adviser said that the Independent Monitoring Authority has also played key role in making sure the presence of teachers at schools as assessment confirmed 91 percent presence of teachers he said adding besides a policy of reward and punishment was also introduced to encourage the honest teaching staff.

According to this policy, he said hard-working teachers would be awarded while teachers with poor performance demoted till they show encouraging results in next exams.

In ex-Fata districts the induction of 2400 teachers is also in progress, he said adding the induction process of around 22000 would be completed by March 2020. He hoped that the target of induction of 65000 teachers would be achieved in next year.

He said special emphasis was being laid on training of school teachers to make them more valuable for their students and around 12000 newly inducted teachers have been imparted this training. The capacity building and continues developing training has shown very encouraging results and its domain would be extended to 16 more districts for around 50000 teachers.

For Early Childhood Education programme which was included in ADP, a target of 10000 schools was set, the Minister said and informed in Hayatabad the first school of this programme would be inaugurated on Oct 3 (Thursday). He said establishment of this school would be a step forward towards set target.

Under a new concept of Schools Leadership Model, to improve performance of educational institutions, he said summery has been approved for induction of 3000 teachers. In past, he said one SDO had to look after matters of 70 to 80 schools that were almost impossible for him to manage. Now, he said under School Leadership Model Leadership programme, a School Leader would be appointed who will look after the matters of 3 to 7 schools.

During last one year 400 girls' community schools and 45 new primary schools were established while up-gradation of 22 primary schools to middle level and 26 middle schools to high level, 21 high schools to higher secondary schools was made. Under Para-teacher Council, 44 new classrooms were constructed and missing facilities at various schools were provided.

The process of transfers and postings of teachers was made transparent and an application was launched in which a teacher can apply for a vacant post after filling the form. However, he said this policy will be launched after completion of the induction process.

During one year, the Minister said employees of management cadre from grade 16 to 19 were upgraded and promoted. Besides, he said the long standing demand of devising a service structure was also fulfilled and more than 10000 teaching and non-teaching staff was upgraded and promoted. He said Secretary and Director Education both deserve appreciation for amicably addressing the issue of service structure.
